1 Litre Of Tears

This beautifully moving drama is based on the real-life struggles of a 15-year-old girl named Aya who suffered from an incurable disease, but lived life to the fullest until her death at 25. The script is based on the diary Aya kept writing until she could no longer hold a pen. The book that later followed entitled “One Litre of Tears” has sold over 1.1 million copies in Japan alone.

Fifteen year old Ikeuchi Aya was just a normal girl, soon to be high school student and daughter of a family who works at a shop that makes tofu. As time passed, unusual things started happening to Aya lately. She started falling down often and walks in a strange way. Her mother Shioka, takes Aya to see the doctor, and he informs Shioka that Aya has spinocerebellar degeneration – a terrible disease where the cerebellum of the brain gradually deteriorates to the point where the victim cannot walk, speak, write, or eat. A cruel disease, as it does not affect the mind in the least. How will Aya react when told about her disease? And how will Aya live from now on?

This story is really an inspirational. I never thought that I’ll cry while viewing every episodes. I like her the way she acts; she never thought that Disability is a problem of her future but she fought! She go out to their house and act like a normal person. Eventhough she’s been backbite by many people, she tried to forget/act nothing happens.  May she Rest In Peace!

Mga Nobela ng Precious Hearts Romances

Una sa lahat pasensiya na po kayo kung tagalog ang ginamit ko, kasi naman ay para ito sa mga Pinoy na na-aadik sa mga nobela ng Precoius Hearts Romances.

Ang PHR ay isang libro na iba’t ibang mga titles at writers na gumagawa. Isa itong Romance Pocket Book. Kikiligin kayo sa mga bawat eksena.

Dahil nga sa mga nahihiligan ng aking pinsan na magbasa ng iba’t ibang nobela – ma-english o ma-tagalog man, binabasa talaga niya. Dahil din sa ako ay bumabasa ng mga nobela, lagi akong humihiram sa kanya. Ng mabasa ko na ang PHR, talagang kikiligin ka.

Ang unang binasa ko ay “My Cheating Heart”  na isinulat ni Martha Cecilia. Ako ay humanga sa kagalingan. Ikaw ay madadala talaga sa mga pangyayari.

  Si Miles ang first crush ni Nadia. Si Miles din ang first love niya at natitiyak niyang si Miles pa rin ang huli niyang mamahalin. They were childhood sweethearts hanggang sa dumating  sa buhay nila si Arlyn. Nahati ang atensyon ni Miles. Kalimitan ay ipinagtatangol nito ang iyaking si Arlyn sa haragang si Nadie.
  Then cam the Announcement that shocked Nadia. Mag-on na sina Miles at Arlyn. Pinili niya ang lumayo upang makalimot. Subaliit aakalain ba niyang mabibigyan siya ng pagkatataong mapasakanya si Miles nang hindi matuloy ang kasal nito kay Arlyn.
  Paano? Pipikutin niya si Miles kasabwat ang ina ng binata!
But would Miles forgive her?

Pati na rin ang Mama ko, na-aadict na sa pagbasa. Mas pinili niyang magbasa kaysa matulog. LOL:)). Habit naman kasi niya matulog tuwing hapon pero ngayon, umiba ang inip ng hangin.

Boys Over Flowers: Happy Ending?

We knew already that Taiwain was the first country to make a version of Manga Series, Hana Yori Dango. Followed by Japan and now, Korean! My God it’s really cool especially the characters. They are all handsome . Honestly I didn’t watch the Japanese version, idk. After how many days watching it in front of the TV, is it really a happy ending?

OMGosh! I’m not satisfied with the ending. Jun Pyo(Lee Min-Ho) and Jan Di(I forgot her real name) end up as GF and BF. Only Jun Pyo proposed to her after that the other members of F4, Ji Hoo(Kim Hyun-Jeong), Yi Jeung(Kim Bum) and Woo Bin(Kim Joon), appeared telling them they disagree the proposal because the couple didn’t told them but it is only a joke. The question, is that really a happy ending? My God!

How about Ga Eul(Jan Di’s bestfriend) and her lovelife with Yi Jeung? Many love their team-up but they didn’t become GF and BF. The family of Jan Di, they didn’t let us see their happy family. The creative hands of Yi Jeung, is it ok? Honestly, I thought Jan Di and Jun Pyo will get married but that never happens. It end up looking at the sunset with their happy faces. WTF?! It really makes me dissapointed

Happy Earth Day; Save the Mother Earth

Earth Day, celebrated April 22, is a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment. It was founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in in 1970 and is celebrated in many countries every year. This date is Spring in the Northern Hemisphere and Autumn in the Southern Hemisphere.

The United Nations celebrates an Earth Day each year on the March equinox, which is often March 20, a tradition which was founded by peace activist John McConnell in 1969.

Troubled times for the Wii?

In the three years since it first launched, the Nintendo Wii has sailed past competing systems from Sony and Microsoft to consistently claim the top spot in the console war.

But if a recent rash of troubling stories about the Wii is a vision of things to come, the tide might be turning for the seemingly unbeatable machine.

Kinks in the system’s shiny white armor starting showing last month. Despite steady success in Japan, the Wii fell into second place in March as the underdog Playstation 3 clambered atop the region’s sales charts for the first time in 16 months. That was enough to garner some uncharacteristically somber comments from Nintendo President Satoru Iwata, who deemed the climate in Japan “unhealthy” for the Wii.

But to Cowan & Company analyst Doug Creutz, the U.S. market isn’t necessarily any healthier, at least if you’re thinking of investing in a console game. In an interview with Gamasutra Creutz called the Wii “fool’s gold” for third-party game developers.

“The choice here is really between investing for the Xbox 360 and PS3 — since their capabilities are fairly similar — or the Wii,” he said. “I would caution investors and developers that the larger installed base of the Wii is really a bit of a red herring.”

Crueutz goes on to point out that while the 19 million Wiis in North America trounce competing consoles individually, combined sales of the 360 and PS3 actually top 22 million. That represents a larger chunk of the pie for game developers who can more easily port games back and forth from the two systems. Additionally, Creutz notes that Nintendo’s first-party games and the Guitar Hero and Rock Band franchises account for nearly one-half of all Wii software sales, a far larger percentage than what’s found on the other consoles. Comparatively, the Wii is simply a tougher nut to crack for third-party developers.

Peter Moore, president of enormous third-party game maker EA Sports, echoed Creutz’s concerns while speaking at a recent conference.

“You simply can’t take what you’re doing on the PS3 and Xbox and port – that’s a dirty word – down to the Wii,” he said, insisting that instead you have to build Wii games “from the ground up.”

He’s not the only one at EA with issues. Earlier in the month, an EA producer confessed to having trouble incorporating Nintendo’s upcoming Wii MotionPlus control attachment into its Grand Slam Tennis game, raising questions about when the tech would be ready for consumers. Nintendo answered that by officially announcing a release date only to curiously push back the release of the game they’ve repeatedly used to show off the new technology, surefire smash sequel Wii Sports: Resort.

Of course, it’s not all doom and gloom. NPD Group reports that the Wii again led the way in March 2009, outselling both the 360 and PS3 by a wide margin. Nintendo is also enjoying strong numbers for its newly released DSi handheld with the company reporting first-week sales of over 600,000 units in the U.S. and Europe. Mario’s checking account won’t run out of funds any time soon.

The question is, will gamers run out of interest? The last two major first-party Wii games, Wii Music and Animal Crossing: City Folk, failed to generate the kind of excitement (and, in turn, sales) that Nintendo is accustomed to, a fact that analyst Ed Barton of Screen Digest believes is a big reason why the Wii is struggling. While older blockbusters like Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii are still selling well, Barton points out that the company needs new experiences to drive new sales.

Nintendo hopes to deliver exactly that with upcoming high-profile games like the aforementioned Wii Sports sequel and a remake of classic boxing game Punch Out!, but that still leaves plenty of wiggle room for the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 to continue closing the gap. And if Japan is any indication (and it usually is), that gap can disappear in a heartbeat.

Masters mystery: What’s that ‘V’ on Tiger Woods’ hat?

The familiarity of The Masters is what makes it one of the greatest events in all of sports. The course is always in the same pristine shape, the faces rarely change (both on the course and on television) and even the on-screen graphics CBS uses are consistent through the years. During the 2009 tournament, though, there has been one subtle change that has left Masters viewers confused. What’s with that new “V” on Tiger Woods’ hat?

When we last saw Tiger in a major (last year’s U.S. Open), the left side of his Nike cap was adorned with the “SQ” logo of the manufacturer’s SasQuatch line of golf clubs. Since his return to the PGA Tour, the “SQ” is gone, replaced by a large, somewhat-unwieldy “V”. 

Not surprisingly, the “V” is another Nike logo. The Oregon-based company recently released itsVictory Red irons and the large Roman numeral-like “V” is the logo for the clubs. If you look closely, the top right half of the “V” contains a red, lowercase “r”, an obvious nod to Tiger’s trademark Sunday color.

Tiger helped design the forged carbon steel blades and is playing the Masters with all Victory Red irons (except for his lob wedge). The clubs also feature Tiger’s “TW” logo, as well as the ubiquitous Nike swoosh.

The English term, according to the Ven. Bede (De temporum ratione, I, v), relates to Estre, a Teutonic goddess of the rising light of day and spring, which deity, however, is otherwise unknown, even in the Edda (Simrock, Mythol., 362); Anglo-Saxon, eâster, eâstron; Old High German, ôstra, ôstrara, ôstrarûn; German, Ostern. April was called easter-monadh. The plural eâstron is used, because the feast lasts seven days. Like the French plural Pâques, it is a translation from the Latin Festa Paschalia, the entire octave of Easter. The Greek term for Easter, pascha, has nothing in common with the verb paschein, “to suffer,” although by the later symbolic writers it was connected with it; it is the Aramaic form of the Hebrew pesach (transitus, passover). The Greeks called Easter the pascha anastasimon; Good Friday the pascha staurosimon. The respective terms used by the Latins are Pascha resurrectionis and Pascha crucifixionis. In the Roman and Monastic Breviaries the feast bears the title Dominica Resurrectionis; in the Mozarabic Breviary, In Lætatione Diei Pasch Resurrectionis; in the Ambrosian Breviary, In Die Sancto Paschæ. The Romance languages have adopted the Hebrew-Greek term: Latin, Pascha; Italian, Pasqua; Spanish, Pascua; French, Pâques. Also some Celtic and Teutonic nations use it: Scottish, Pask; Dutch, Paschen; The correct word in Dutch is actually Pasen Danish, Paaske; Swedish, Pask; even in the German provinces of the Lower Rhine the people call the feast Paisken not Ostern. The word is, principally in Spain and Italy, identified with the word “solemnity” and extended to other feasts, e.g. Sp., Pascua florida, Palm Sunday; Pascua de Pentecostes, Pentecost; Pascua de la Natividad, Christmas; Pascua de Epifania, Epiphany. In some parts of France also First Communion is called Pâques, whatever time of the year administered.

 

EASTER EGGS :

Because the use of eggs was forbidden during Lent, they were brought to the table on Easter Day, coloured red to symbolize the Easter joy. This custom is found not only in the Latin but also in the Oriental Churches. The symbolic meaning of a new creation of mankind by Jesus risen from the dead was probably an invention of later times. The custom may have its origin in paganism, for a great many pagan customs, celebrating the return of spring, gravitated to Easter. The egg is the emblem of the germinating life of early spring. Easter eggs, the children are told, come from Rome with the bells which on Thursday go to Rome and return Saturday morning. The sponsors in some countries give Easter eggs to their god-children. Coloured eggs are used by children at Easter in a sort of game which consists in testing the strength of the shells (Kraus, Real-Encyklopædie, s.v. Ei). Both coloured and uncoloured eggs are used in some parts of the United States for this game, known as “egg-picking”. Another practice is the “egg-rolling” by children on Easter Monday on the lawn of the White House in Washington.

 

EASTER RABBIT :

The Easter Rabbit lays the eggs, for which reason they are hidden in a nest or in the garden. The rabbit is a pagan symbol and has always been an emblem of fertility (Simrock, Mythologie, 551).
